Erol C.
"Bud" McGonagill, Zeta Theta 33
Tallahassee, FL, EROL C.
“Bud” McGONAGILL, 79, went home to be with his Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, August 15, 2008. Bud was
born January 24, 1929, in Memphis, TN, to Burris and Vivian
McGonagill. He grew up in Memphis and graduated with a
Masters in Education from Memphis State University.
Bud served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He
was a retired school teacher and coach. Bud began his
teaching and coaching career in the Memphis City and Shelby
County, TN school systems. He and his wife relocated
to South Florida in 1955, where Bud spent the remainder of
his career teaching and coaching in Palm Beach County and
Broward County, FL. After retirement, Bud and his wife
moved to Tallahassee, FL to be near children and
grandchildren. He was a member of Wildwood Presbyterian
Church. Bud was a devoted son, brother, husband,
father and an exceptional teacher, coach and friend to many.
Teaching students and coaching athletes were the joys of his
life. There is comfort in knowing that he is spending
eternity with our Lord and Savior, in a place that is more
peaceful and beautiful than we can fully imagine in this
life. He was preceded in death by his parents and
brother, Lebron McGonagill. Bud is survived by his
loving and devoted wife of 58 years, JoAnn Williams
McGonagill; his four children, Vicki L. Brown (Jim), Geneva,
OH; E. Clay McGonagill, Jr. (JoAnn), Tallahassee, FL; George
W. McGonagill (Lynn), Sarasota, FL; and Robin M. Naitove

am. Family will receive friends following the service
in the church fellowship hall. A private, family

JUST
AROUND THE CORNER
Around the corner I have a friend,
in this great city that has no end.
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
and before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
for life is swift and a terrible race.
He knows I like him just as well,
as in the days when I rang his bell.
He rang mine, we were younger then,
and now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say, " I will call on Jim,
"Just to show that I'm thinking of him".
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
and distance between us grows.
Around the corner!- yet miles away,
"here's a telegram sir" "Jim died today".
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time,
it might be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets and most important,
stay close to your friends and family,
for they helped make you the person that you are today.
